Harvesting natural daylight

Traditional daylight harvesting has its issues – too much light and heat sometimes and not enough light other times. Problem solved.

The new Solatube^® 330DS optical dome features Raybender^® 3000 Technology, a series of Fresnel lenses that function to harvest appropriate daylight based upon the incidence angles of daylight. Raybender^® 3000 Technology delivers an Effective Daylight Capture Surface (EDCS) of up to 750 square inches, over double that of a clear dome of the same diameter.

This new dome, coupled with an optional insulating inner dome, delivers the ultimate in illumination consistency, visual comfort, and thermal performance – throughout the day and throughout the year.

Reject High Intensity Sunlight

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and summer mid-day sun is a great example. When the sun is high in the sky vault, there is simply just too much sunlight
accompanied by too much heat. This lens screens the over-powering and punishing mid-day sun, and only allows comfortable daylight into the optical tube. The result is a staggering reduction in solar heat gain and a favorable reduction in bothersome light intensity for improved output consistency throughout the day and over the course of the year.

 

Superior Visual Comfort

Not only does this lens help redirect low-angled light, it also works to temper glints by mixing light in the optical tubing.

Harvest Low-Angled Daylight

This lens captures low-angled morning and afternoon sunlight and redirects it into the shaft to greatly extend your day. In the winter, Raybender^® 3000 Technology captures not only low angled sunlight on the horizon, but also redirects diffuse light from the sky vault delivering vastly higher light levels.

The bottom line? A top lighting solution that works when you’re working – keeping the lights off for a much longer period to maximize energy efficiency.

SolaMaster^® Series 330DS, Material Specifications:

Roof Dome:

Dome is UV and impact resistant for extended life. Injection molded acrylic classified as CC2 material, 0.143 in (3.7 mm) thick, with visible light transmission of 92% and ultra violet
light transmission of 0.03%.

LightTracker™ Reflector:

Increases daylight collection and harvesting for low sun angles, resulting in increased light output. Spectralight^® Infinity material, see below for specifications.

Permeable Dome Seal:

Adhesive backed weather strip locks out dust and bugs, but allows moisture to escape.

Dome Ring:

Used to prevent thermal bridging between base flashing and
tubing and channel condensed moisture out of tubing. Injection
molded high impact PVC.

Dome Ring Seal: Butyl glazing rope to minimize air infiltration.

Roof Flashing Base:

One piece, seamless, leak-proof flashing functioning as base support for dome and top of tube.
Flashing Options: 4-in, 8-in 11-in high (100 mm, 200 mm, 280 mm) or curb cap with inside dimensions 27 in x 27 in (685 mm x 685 mm) to cover curb by others.

Reflective Tube:

Aluminum sheet, thickness 0.018 in (0.5 mm)

24 in (600 mm) Extension Tube or optional 30 degree adjustable tube. Optional 0-90 degree extension tube kit also available.

Spectralight^® Infinity material fabricated from aluminum sheet meeting ASTM B 209 requirements, alloy and temper required by the manufacturer to suit forming operations and finish requirements.

Interior Finish: Spectralight Infinity high reflectance specular finish on exposed reflective surface. Specular reflectance for visible spectrum (400 nm to 760 nm) greater than 99 percent. Total solar spectrum reflectance (400 nm to 2500 nm) less than 93 percent.

Colour: a* and b* (defined by CIE L*a*b color model) shall not exceed plus 2 or be less than minus 2 as
determined in accordance to ASTM E 308.

Diffuser Assembly:

Diffuser attached directly to bottom of 24 in (600 mm) extension tube. Diffuser trim ring injection molded acrylic (white). Open cell foam diffuser seal to minimize dust and bug infiltration.
