Raybender® 3000 Dome

Solatube roof domes are injection moulded from impact-resistant polycarbonate,TP(a) fire rated for safety, and incorporate UV screening.

The unique dome geometry maximizes light collection while providing a maintenance-free surface that is cleansed by the elements.

The LightTracker™ reflector and Raybender® 3000 Technology help to ensure top year-round performance.

Only Solatube® Daylighting Systems, with our Raybender® 3000 technologies, uses Fresnel lenses in the dome to refract light into the top of the tube, actively harvesting daylight into the system.

Raybender® lens in the roof dome ensures that low level daylight doesn't just pass through the dome - it is redirected down the tube aperture at a steep angle to ensure fewer bounces and thus minimum light loss.

LightTracker™ reflector system

LightTracker™ reflector captures low-level light and directs it into the tube.We also employ a simple reflector system, LightTracker™, to redirect light, that hits the dome from lower angles, down into the tube.

The LightTracker™ reflector is made from 99.7% Spectralight® Infinity material for optimum light transfer

In real terms, this could mean as much as twice as much light entering the top of the tube than on any other system.

The Solatube LightTracker™ reflector clips into the dome to provide an even greater light collecting surface that redirects low-level light that may otherwise have passed straight through the dome into the tube aperture instead.

While the low profile domes commonly manufactured to give the impression of a traditional skylight window are even less effective.

Spectralight® Infinity Reflective tube ... 99.7% effective

Spectralight® Infinity, the most reflective tubing material in the world. At 99.7% reflectivity, no other system will deliver as much light.

And even though some competitor systems boast figures of up to 98%, in a typical installation, this could mean that 30% of the original light volume is lost, compared to around 6% in a Solatube® Daylighting System.

Meanwhile, flexible tube systems would be delivering around only 10% of original light.

All of this may sound complicated but it’s actually quite simple; every time light bounces off of a surface it loses energy (light).

For example, if the light has to bounce 20 times to get from one end of the tube to the other then it will lose energy every bounce.

With Spectralight® Infinity at 99.7%, only 0.3% of the energy is lost on each bounce.

The next best material, at 98%, will lose 2% each bounce.
Over twenty bounces, that really adds up.

The illustration below shows how the different materials deliver very different levels of light.

Solatube® Daylighting Systems patented LightTracker™ reflector and Raybender® 3000 technology fresnel lens in the roof dome can more than double the amount of daylight entering the tube aperture when compared to a dome without these performance-enhancing features. They also ensure the light enters the aperture at the most efficient angle of incidence thus minimizing the number of times the light will bounce down the tube to reach the diffuser. This is important because some light is absorbed with each bounce and it is not uncommon to have tube lengths that produce over 100 light bounces within the tube

Without the use of Fresnel lenses, low level light simply passes straight through the dome and does not enter the top of the tube. The Fresnel lens system and LightTracker™ reflector, actively captures twice as much light as a dome with no lenses. Another reason for Solatube® Daylighting Systems class-leading performance.

Angle Sections 0 - 90°

For the majority of installations the 0-30° angles incorporated into the top and bottom of every Solatube® Daylighting System base kit should provide the adjustment you require.

For those installations were a bit more ‘flexibility’ is required we can offer our unique 0-90° angle sections.

This 580mm extension tube has three 0-30° angles incorporated into it to allow a wide variety of configurations to be created, ensuring that even the most complicated installations can be achieved.

For outstanding light diffusion that artfully blends to the ceiling plane, select the Vusion diffuser. The fresh design harmonizes with most décors, yet provides the radiance of natural light.

The Vusion diffuser is supplied as standard on both Solatube 160 DS and 290 DS.

The Vusion diffuser fits neatly and discreetly into virtually any ceiling or room style.

Optiview® Frosted Shade

Each features a sleek low-profile dress ring. These attractive and stylish double-glazed diffusers integrate seamlessly into most ceiling surfaces with no visible fasteners.Make a real statement with the Optiview® Frosted Shade.

The Frosted Shade diffuser provides a clean contemporary look to any Solatube Daylighting System.

The shade design provides a visual cutoff, producing a soothing comfortable light. The Frosted Shade can be optioned with either our OptiView® Diffuser or Vusion™ Diffuser.

The frosted ring around the lens creates a light hallow effect and acts to focus the light downwards.

The Optiview® Frosted Shade is particularly effective when used in multiples to illuminate areas such as corridors or individually to light shower cubicles etc.
